Cougars blow out Leon

Last weekend, the Rosebud-Lott Cougars football team kicked off the regular season with a bang, blowing out the Leon Cougars 59-19.

Rosebud-Lott was just simply unstoppable in the first half as they went into halftime up 53-0. They were outscored 19-6 in the second half, but still held their commanding lead all throughout the game.

That explosive offense was aided by 7 total touchdowns, three from the air and four on the ground. The stifling defense came from a barrage of 8 total sacks, a forced fumble by Yahir Mendoza, and a pic six by Kyle Finan. Special teams also played a big role with a punt return for a touchdown by Breon Lewis.

Jamarquis Johnson had a phenomenal game with 208 passing yards on just seven passing attempts and three touchdowns. He also had a terrific running game, rushing for 145 yards and three touchdowns. Along with the pick six, Kyle Finan also had 39 rushing yards and a touchdown. Breon Lewis couldn’t be stopped as he had 150 receiving yards and two touchdowns on just four catches.

On defense multiple players had at more than one sack: Easton Fulton and Deejayy Hicks.

Up next for Rosebud-Lott, they will head out on the road to face the Wortham Bulldogs. The game will be on Friday and is scheduled for 7 p.m.
