Cougars to face familiar foes in district realignment

-By Ryan Heller

Starting next year for the 2022-2023 season, the Rosebud-Lott Cougars and Lady Cougars sports team will be having a new set of district opponents.

As of now, the UIL has posted the new district reclassification and realignment for football, basketball, and volleyball.

Rosebud-Lott will not switch conferences and will remain in 2A.

First up, the Rosebud-Lott football team. The Cougars will remain in 2A Division 1, but they will no longer be in Region 3 District 12. Next season, they will be in Region 2 District 8. Their district opponents will be Bosqueville, Bruceville-Eddy, Crawford, Marlin, Moody, Riesel, and Valley Mills.

Up next is the volleyball team. Last year the Lady Cougars were in Region 4 District 25. Starting next season, they will be in Region 2 District 16. They will be in a small district as they will only have four district opponents. They will be Chilton, Marlin, and Riesel, and Bremond, who is a reigning 2A regional finalist.

After that is the basketball teams, who have had the least amount of chaos with the reclassification and realignment. The Cougars and Lady Cougars will not have many changes as they will remain in Region 3 District 17. They will even have the same district opponents: Bosqueville, Bruceville-Eddy, Chilton, Crawford, Moody, and Waco Meyer. All of these changes will remain from 2022-2024.
