Cougars fall to Indians
The Rosebud-Lott Cougars football team hosted the Riesel Indians on Friday. The Cougars fell to the Indians, losing 28-14. Riesel started strong against the Cougars, taking a 15-0 lead. Rosebud-Lott put themselves on the scoreboard in the second quarter in a big way with a 61-yard pick six from Jordyn Barrientos. That big defensive play helped the Cougars close the gap to 15-7. Riesel responded with a 9-yard touchdown run for a 21-7 lead, which would be the score going into halftime.
The third quarter was a defensive battle, as there was no scoring in the quarter. The Indians opened the scoring in the fourth quarter with a 7-yard touchdown pass to increase their lead to 28-7. The Cougars tried to stay alive with a 50-yard touchdown pass from Pryce Rabroker to Carson Kahlig to make the score 28-14, but it wouldn’t be enough and Rosebud-Lott would be defeated 28-14.
Despite throwing an interception, Pryce Rabroker played a great game, throwing for 134 yards and a touchdown. Carson Kahlig was also terrific, catching four passes for 105 yards and a touchdown. With this loss, the Cougars have a record of 1-4 and a district record of 1-1. Up next for Rosebud-Lott, they will host the Bruceville-Eddy Eagles for their homecoming game. The game will be on Friday and kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
