Cougars fall to Riesel in heartbreaker, 21-20
The Rosebud-Lott Cougars football team traveled to take on the Riesel Indians on Oct. 11. Rosebud-Lott was stunned by Riesel, losing in a 21-20 heartbreaker.
Riesel scored the lone points of the first quarter for a 7-0 lead. The Cougars scored first in the second quarter with a 10-yard touchdown run by Zaylon Wells to tie the score at 7.
The Indians answered with a 20-yard touchdown pass to retake the lead 14-7. Rosebud-Lott responded in the last minute of the first half with a clutch 42-yard touchdown pass from Pryce Rabroker to Bo McGinniss to tie the score at 14 going into halftime.
Riesel scored the lone points of the third quarter on a rushing touchdown to take a 21-14 lead. Rosebud-Lott marched down the field and scored a big 1-yard touchdown run by Johnnie Martinez to make the score 21-20.
However, the score remained that way after a costly missed extra point and Riesel held on to win 21-20.
Pryce Rabroker had a great game, throwing for 104 yards and a touchdown. Bo McGinniss was fantastic, catching two passes for 59 yards and a touchdown.
Zaylon Wells played a terrific game, rushing for 72 yards and a touchdown.
With this loss, Rosebud-Lott has a record of 4-2 and a district record of 0-1.
Up next, the Cougars will travel to take on the Moody Bearcats. The game will be Friday, Oct. 18, and kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
