Cougars get big win over Crawford

The Rosebud-Lott Cougars football team hosted the Crawford Pirates on Friday for their home opener and district opener. The Cougars were victorious, beating Crawford 28-27 in thrilling fashion for their first win of the year. 

Rosebud-Lott started the scoring in the first quarter with a 5-yard touchdown pass from Pryce Rabroker to Jamarquis Johnson for a 7-0 lead. The Cougars extended their lead in the second quarter with an 18-yard touchdown run by Johnson to make the score 14-0. The Pirates would fight back to tie the game at 14, then Rosebud-Lott responded with a 29-yard touchdown pass from Rabroker to Carson Kahlig for a 21-14 lead. 

Crawford answered back with a 60-yard kickoff return for a touchdown to tie the score back at 21. The Cougars found themselves back on top with a 9- yard touchdown pass from Rabroker to Jayden Thomas to take a 28-21 lead. Crawford would score on a 32-yard touchdown pass to make the score 28-27 with less than 20 seconds to go in the game, then Crawford went for a two point conversion to go for the win. The Cougars held tough and forced a Crawford fumble, stopping the conversion to win the game 28-27.

Despite throwing two interceptions, Pryce Rabroker still had a great game, throwing for 174 yards and three touchdowns. Carson Kahlig had an incredible game, catching seven passes for 119 yards and a touchdown. Jamarquis Johnson was amazing catching two passes for 26 yards and a touchdown along with rushing for 45 yards and a touchdown. 

Up next for Rosebud-Lott, they will travel to take on the Riesel Indians. The game will be on Friday and kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
