Cougars get fast start in own tournament
The Rosebud-Lott Cougars hosted an in-season tournament Dec. 27-28.
They played two games on Monday. The first game was against the Holland Hornets, and the Cougars defeated Holland in a close battle 40-37. The second game they played was against the Bluff Dale Bobcats and demolished them 60-28 in a game that they never trailed.
The Cougars started off the game hot and scored the first 12 points of the game. Bluff Dale broke the drought with a free throw, then Rosebud-Lott got a layup by Kameron Finan (23) for a 14-1 lead. The first quarter ended with the score at 14-6.
The Cougar lead extended to 21-8, and they kept it up with a layup by Easton Fulton (25) for a 23-8 lead. The Cougars piled on with a three pointer by Jordan Landrum (3) to make it a 31-12 lead. Rosebud-Lott went into halftime leading 33-12.
The Cougars continued to stay aggressive on offense with a successful three point play by Kameron Finan for a 36-12 lead, which was later followed up with a floater by Caleb Butler (20) to widen the lead to 42-14. Rosebud-Lott continued to show no mercy as they scored on a fastbreak layup by Jamarquis Johnson (1) to widen the gap and make it a 50-17 lead. The third quarter ended with the score at 50-21. Rosebud-Lott extended the lead to 58-25 and went on to win 60-28 in dominating fashion.
The tournament continued on Tuesday. Results will be in next week’s paper.
