Cougars hit the court with a vengeance

The Rosebud-Lott varsity basketball team slam dunked into the 2020-2021 season with back-to-back wins this week.

It began with Thursday's home non-conference game against the Thrall Tigers. The score ended at 62-40, a 22-point win for the Cougars.

After ending the 2019-2020 season at Regional Quarterfinals, the nine returning team members know what they have to do to get their rightful title this year.

First-team all-district standout Steven Buhl led the way offensively, scoring a total of 18 points. Breon Lewis wasn’t too much further behind, scoring 11 points.

Defensive MVP Johnpaul Reyna succeeded in scoring 10 points. Second-team all-district Nathan Truesdale scored seven points, while Jose Perez and Jonathan Adamez each scored three points each.  Sixth man of the year, Jordan Landrum scored nine points throughout the game and successfully captured a total of eight rebounds.

The following game against Milano, played the next evening, was similar. The Eagles were unprepared as they faced the roaring Cougars.

Johnpaul Reyna poured in 28 points followed by 21 from Steven Buhl. Jordan Landrum scored 11 points, while Nathan Truesdale, Johnathan Adamez, and Jose Perez had 5 apiece. Breon Lewis and Jamarquis Johnson each had 4. Reyna succeeded in a career-high 22 rebounds throughout the game, followed by 12 from Buhl. Jordan Landrum also had a career high seven assists.

With a start like this, the Varsity Cougars Basketball Team is proving they are ready to fight again this year.
