Powerlifting Team takes first place

On Feb. 25, the Boys Cougar Powerlifting Team traveled to Leon where they competed in a Last Chance Qualifier meet. 

As a team they came in first and almost everyone hit personal records. 

Results are as follows: Moses Fox: 2nd place for the 148 weight class, who held a total of 885 lbs.; Alvin Clarkson-Williams: 1st place for the 181 weight class, 780 lbs.; Elijah Flores: 2nd place in the 220 weight class, 940 lbs.; Nolan Kahlig: 2nd place for the 242 weight class, 1090 lbs.; and Easton Fulton: 1st place in the 308 weight class, 1335 lbs. 

“I am very proud of all of the lifters,” said Coach Daniel Gilmore.” Go Cougars. 

Moses Fox was also recognized as one of Rosebud-Lott’s Athletes of the Week. 

“Moses was a stronger competitor PRing in all 3 lifts (350 Squat, 215 Bench, 320 Deadlift,)” Gilmore said. “He is currently ranked #5 in the region in his weight class.”

Congratulations go out to the following student athletes who have qualified for the regional powerlifting meet: Sydney Parcus, Aidan Valdez, Moses Fox, Elijah Flores, Nolan Kahlig, and Easton Fulton. The Lady Cougars will compete on Saturday, March 6 at Dublin High School, followed by the Cougars on March 11 at Lumberton. Both meets will commence at 6 a.m.
