Realignment shrinks Cougars football district
Starting next year for the 2024-2025 season, the Rosebud-Lott Cougars and Lady Cougars sports team will be having a new set of district opponents. As of now, the UIL has posted the new district reclassification and realignment for football, basketball, and volleyball. Rosebud-Lott will not switch conferences and will remain in 2A.
First up, the Rosebud-Lott football team. The Cougars will remain in 2A Division 1, but they will be moving from Region 2 District 8 to Region 4 District 13. The number of teams in their district also shrunk from seven to five, losing Valley Mills and Bosqueville. The rest of the district will remain the same: Bruceville-Eddy, Crawford, Moody, Riesel, and Marlin.
Up next is the volleyball team. The Lady Cougars will have no changes whatsoever. They will remain in Region 2 District 16, and will have the same four opponents. Those teams will be Chilton, Riesel, Marlin, and Bremond.
After that is the basketball teams, who will have the most amount of chaos with the reclassification and realignment. The Cougars and Lady Cougars will be moving from Region 3 District 17 to Region 4 District 27. They will even have an entire new set of district opponents: Bartlett, Granger, Holland, McDade, Milano, and Thorndale.
All of these changes will remain from 2024-2026.
