Rosebud-Lott Lifters 4-Peat Regional Champs; 12 Advance to State Powerlifting Meet
Both the boys and girls powerlifting teams are 4peat Regional Champions. The boys competed in Navasota on Friday and the girls in Dublin on Saturday.
“I am very proud of every single lifter that earned the right to compete this weekend and want to congratulate all of the lifters that advanced to state,” Coach Daniel Gilmore said.
Boys
The Cougars have six state qualifiers and set three Regional records. Aiden Cruz, Miguel Juarez, Michael Flores, Micah Portillo, Romeo Portillo, and Luke Price are advancing to the state meet.
Aiden Cruz placed 2nd Place and now holds the Regional Bench Press Record for his division.
Miguel Juarez garnered 3rd Place in his division.
Michael Flores is the Regional Champion and now holds the Regional Bench Press Record for his class.
Both Micah Portillo and Romeo Portillo grabbed 2nd Place.
Luke Price won the silver medal and now holds the Regional Bench Press Record for his class. He also won the Outstanding Bench Press Award.
Other boys winning medals were - Hugo Costilla - 3rd Place, Julian Costilla - 5th Place, Logan Tays - 3rd Place, Damarion Cummings - 3rd Place, and Justin Portillo - 3rd Place.
Girls
The Lady Cougars have six state qualifiers and set four Regional records. Briana Loera, Yazmin Aldana, Hayley Meadows, Lakia Cummings, Brooklyn Ballard, and Kayla Sindle are advancing to the state meet.
Briana Loera grabbed 2nd Place and set a Regional Squat Record.
Yazmin Aldana and Hayley Meadows garnered 2nd Place in their divisions.
Lakia Cummings is Regional Champion and set the Regional Deadlift and Total Record. She also earned the Outstanding Deadlift Award.
Brooklyn Ballard took 2nd Place and won the Outstanding Squat Award.
Kayla Sindle won 2nd Place and set the new Regional Deadlift Record for her class.
Other girls winning medals were - Janiah Alexander - 3rd Place, Bria Kimmons - 5th Place, and Naleigh Costilla - 5th Place.
