Stand, kneel, or stand on your head

Then again, I could be wrong.

I have to admit, I have no real opinion about this NFL kneeling versus standing with interlocked arms.

I remember when it all began. Last season San Francisco 49er QB Colin Kaepernick refused to stand for the national anthem. He did so to protest racism in America. NFL fans hated him for it, some loved him for it, either way Kaepernick is now a free agent that no one wants to sign.

Was it his protest? Was it his 2016 stats? Kaepernick in 2016 threw for over 2,000 yards for the 49ers and looked to be a solid force at the position for a team that needed him badly. But in 2013 and 2014 he threw for more than 3,000 yards.

In 2016 he fumbled the ball 9 times, only the second time in his career to hit that high number. In short, his stats slumped a little, but the protest added the nail to the career of the now free agent.

As early as last week, Kaepernick spoke out about his ability to return to football, but no one seems to be listening, yet. This is the NFL; the need to win will out weight the need to play politics and I would expect by the half-way point in the season to witness the return of Colin Kaepernick.

“I’ve always watched him and admired him, the way that he’s played he was a great young quarterback,” Patriots quarterback Tom Brady told Norah O’Donnell an exclusive interview with “CBS Sunday Morning” on Sunday morning,. “He came to our stadium and beat us and took his team to the Super Bowl. He accomplished a lot in the pros as a player. And he’s certainly qualified and I hope he gets a shot.”

Ok, so what is all this protest about. Sadly, President Trump has again taken to Twitter this time insulting the NFL and it’s players. Trump has taken a stand for standing vs. kneeling during the National Anthem. I understand both sides of the argument and have no real opinion. I just don’t care, they can stand, kneel or stand on their heads, do cartwheels or whatever floats the NFL players boats, I just don’t care.

The President has his opinion, others have a different opinion, and that is what America is made of, opinions. The Dallas Cowboys decided to kneel as a protest to Trump telling them what to do at the beginning of Monday Night Football.

Trump did not tell anyone what to do, he just voiced his opinion. The Cowboys stood for the national anthem again to show their support for the nation and the flag and to voice their opinion.

I think there is more important things in the country… in this country to worry about then who stands or kneels when or where. Children are starving in this country, Obamacare, immigration, North Korea, and the list goes on.

So on a scale of 1 to 10 of importance I give this one a -10. This issue is nothing to waste time or energy on and President Trump needs to focus on uniting this county and not inciting a reason to divide this county before he finds himself on the outside of the America people and on the outside of the White House.

I would like you to sit while reading my column as I fear you may injure yourself if you try reading this standing on your head. Just a recommendation, do as you wish, it is still a free country.
