Study Club listens to songs befitting February - the month of love

Wednesday Study Club

The Rosebud Wednesday Study Club met on Wednesday, Feb. 12, at the Rosebud First Baptist Church with 17 members and guests present.

Norma Burns called the meeting to order. Invocation was given by Mary Ann Mitchell. Flag pledges were recited. Beth Allen introduced Ann Sonntag who played a variety of popular and religious songs befitting February the month of love.

The song “Take me Out to the Ball Game” depicted the love of sports. Sonntag played “America the Beautiful” to express the love of our country. The theme song from the 1962 movie Mondo Cane entitled “More” expressed romantic love. Sonntag included Elvis’s “Heartbreak Hotel” to reflect love gone bad.

Lasting love was portrayed through Anne Murray’s “Could I Have This Dance”.

Sonntag then included religious selections to express the perfect love shown us at the cross through the medley “Must Jesus Bear the Cross Alone”, “Near the Cross” and “The Old Rugged Cross”.

Sonntag played “As the Deer” and “Fairest Lord Jesus” to express love in our hearts whenever we yearn to know the Lord and “Precious Lord, Take My Hand” to reflect our asking Him to be our Lord and Savior.

“What a Friend we Have in Jesus” expressed the friend we have in Jesus who is like no other.
