A Chapter’s Farewell

The members of Lott Chapter #594, Order of the Eastern Star, celebrated their last stated meeting on Thursday, May 18, 2017. Shirley Melton served as Worthy Matron and Tom La-Grone served as Worthy Patron.

The Chapter room was filled with a mix of sad tears and joyous laughter as members and visitors shared many sweet memories of attending Lott Chapter over the years.

In a lovely Memorial program, all members of the Lott Chapter who have passed away since it was chartered 100 years ago were honored by placing flowers on the Altar with the Bible.

Shirley Melton declared the Chapter closed for the last time at 9:11 p.m., and she delivered the Farewell Address, Retiring Drill was conducted with applause ringing in the air and members singing “I’ll Fly Away.”

In attendance were Jayne Yenger, Ambassador to Germany, General Grand Chapter and a Past Grand Matron of Texas; Susan Smith, Grand Organist; Jean Hobbs, Board of Directors, District 3; and Julian Larsen, Deputy Grand Matron, District 3, Section 8. Visitors attended from Vashti #32, Melton #589, Taylor #578, Hadassah #188, Round Rock #316, Leander #73, and Lorena #1124.

All, as well as many Eastern Star Hugs enjoyed great food and fellowship.

The members of Lott Chapter #594 looked forward to a new beginning when they consolidated with Vashti Chapter #32, located in Temple, June 1, 2017.
