The Rosebud Wednesday Study Club met at the D Brown Library on Feb. 16 with 15 members and guests in attendance.

Beth Allen called the meeting to order, with the invocation given by Mary Ann Mitchell.  Flag pledges were recited.

Mary Frances Glass introduced Carol Stock who gave a program “Name That Tune.” Since February is the traditional “Love” month, Stock played “The Greatest Movie Love Themes,” and members had to name the song along with the movie that it came from and in some instances the person who sang it.  “Moon River” from Breakfast at Tiffany’s was easily recognized, along with “Lara’s Theme” from Dr. Zhivago.  The “Theme from Love Story” from the movie Love Story was a no brainer as well as “The Way We Were,” song and movie with the same name.  Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On” from the Titanic actually gave members a little trouble identifying.  Members were familiar with the music but couldn’t always guess the name or movie but still enjoyed hearing the songs.  Once the song was identified members commented “I knew that.”

Stock and Sharon Skupin presented minutes and treasurer’s reports.

In Committee, Norma Burns related that the March meeting will be another workday in the Memorial Room, with lunch at Highway 77.

In old business, Skupin related that the printer is still on backorder.  Since the library did not receive the grant for the flower bed stones, the WSC will honor their previous commitment to purchase them.

In new business, Skupin mentioned that the 75th anniversary of the WSC is coming in the future and hopefully we will have some type of recognition reception.

She suggested that we purchase new tablecloths for future events.  Suggestions of red, white, green, and lace overlay were discussed and Skupin will proceed with the purchase.

There was discussion about vertical panels for display purposes and a committee of Skupin, Diane Pagel, Glass, and Karen Koslosly was formed to consider this issue.

Refreshments were served from the large oak table that was centered with white branches to resemble trees and lights along with snowflakes and red hearts.  Members enjoyed croissants with chicken salad, pinwheels, chips, a fruit and cheese tray, a fruit pizza, a variety of cookies and brownies, a strawberry Bundt cake, and Valentine candies.  Hostesses were Mitchell, Pam Parcus, and Allen.

The next meeting will be a workday in the Memorial Room on March 9, 2022.
