Jesus Knows It All
Jim Hightower, who was a Texas Agriculture Commissioner, once commented on an elected official. He said, “If ignorance goes to $40 a barrel, I want the drilling rights to that man’s head.” While ignorance is a problem for some, there are other who are “know-italls,” and it don’t take long to discover that know-it-alls don’t know it all at all. But there is one that does know it all and that is Jesus Christ. To each of the Seven Churches in Asia in Revelations 2 and 3, Jesus says, “I know thy works...” The Church would do well to realize that Jesus knows it all! He knows our works and He knows our minds and our hearts. He sees and recognizes those who are serving, praying and laboring in His cause and kingdom. Likewise at Laodicea, He knows those who are neither hot or cold.
Herbs in Pots and Transplanting Early Spring Flowers
There are two reasons for promoting container gardening in Mid-February in Falls County, Texas. 1) Mid-February in Falls County, Texas, is in the transition period from Winter to Spring. 2) Containers are portable, allowing one to move them to catch the best sunlight throughout the day. They are perfect for small spaces, easily set on patios or balconies, and they are ideal for growing herbs and small vegetables.
Calling All Descendants!
In January 1867, 435 freedmen, women and children left Kingstree, South Carolina to travel by train, ship, and train again to land in Marlin/Falls County, Texas, where they hoped to build a better life for themselves and their families. In June of this year, a monument will be installed in Marlin to memorialize the names of every traveler who made this brave journey. Descendants of the Shaw family, Sharon Styles and Angela Shaw Ross, are on a mission to reveal as many family connections as possible ahead of the ceremony, through genealogical tools and research. If you recognize any of the names on this list as your ancestors, or think a name sounds familiar and might be a relation, please contact Sharon, Sharon.kay@sbcglobal.net, or Angela, honey_be_2001@yahoo. com.
