God’s Good News For You

Not all news is good news, is it? Paul Harvey once noted that if it is not black, bleak, or bloody, then it will not make page one. Anne Murray had a poular song several years ago that said, “We sure could use a little good news today.” Good news is exactly what the Bible has to share. In Luke 2, it records the night, some 2,000 years ago when an agel appeared to shepherds near Bethlehem with some good news. “I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the City of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. No greater new has ever been heard. Some has noted our greatest needs as follows: “If our greatest need had been information, God would have sent us an educator. If our greatest need had been money, God would have sent us an economist. If our greatest need had been pleasure, God would have sent us an entertainer.” But our greatest need was forgiveness, so God sent us a Savior. Bad news abounds. Could you use some good news today? Jesus Christ is God’s good news to us all.

Community Garden Club: A Garden Party Celebrating 103 Years

After 103 years, it is no secret: The Community Garden Club of Marlin transcends mere gardening. This small group of women and one man in a tiny town in Central Texas is bold; it embodies a holistic approach towards cultivating a deep-rooted passion for plants, fostering a sense of community, promoting environmental stewardship, and encouraging artistic expression. In The Gift of Good Land (1981), Wendell Berry pointedly wrote, “A garden gives the body the dignity of working in its own support”.
